  • Knowledge of the philanthropic community and track record with donor cultivation
  • Experience with a variety of revenue models and financial oversight and management

I don't look at diversity as a trend. I believe that diverse environments are inherently, happier, more productive, and more successful in their endeavors. since starting my company in 1980 we have worked to root out bias and create an environment that challenges the idea that being different is connected to being inferior. My philanthropic attitude started years ago with my church participation. I have been blessed enough to have the financial capabilities to carry this on through my business. I hope to use this experience of philanthropy to better promote NAMI at a national level. My company has grown from two employees in 1980 with an annual income of $280,000 to a company with upwards of 90 employees generating annual revenue over 12 million. This has given me a wide experience dealing with changing revenue models and management of financial oversight. I will bring this experience to the NAMI Board if and when I have the opportunity.

The goal when I became connected to NAMI, was to make it relevant in Southwest Michigan. In order to do that, we expanded the program from Kalamazoo to cover all of Southwest Michigan. The board has grown from two attendees to over 11 active participants. We connected with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker medical school in order to expand that reach.

I work well in coordination with other leaders to accomplish goals as evidenced by 40+ years in business with 6 managers I have trained and oversee a $12,000,000 company. 25+ years on church board going through 3 expansions and going from 150 to over 2000 congregants.
